Community Support Coordinator

Olivia Rodrigue is a creative, impassioned individual who has worked in the social service industry for over 5 years. She is originally from Lexington, Kentucky and came to California after finishing her bachelor’s degree at Western Kentucky University in Psychology. While attending school, she worked full time as a Mental Health Associate advocating for adolescents on several hospital wards including; the self-harm, suicidal, homicidal, and psychosis ward, chemical dependency (adult and adolescent) wards, and geriatric ward at Rivendell Behavioral Health Hospital. Olivia drove across the country to work as an AFACTR AmeriCorps member; Assisting Families to Access Change Through Resources. While working at the Rio Dell resource center, Olivia was able to establish an after-school exercise program at the local elementary school that encouraged kids to exercise in “fun” ways. In addition, she worked closely with Food For People; helping to deliver food to families in need and impacting food security in the community where she was placed. As an AFACTR worker, Olivia facilitated Nurturing Parenting Classes through the afterschool program in Rio Dell and responded to differential reports sent to the Resource Center. After AmeriCorps, Olivia worked as a support facilitator with Community Employment Links in Eureka, CA. As a support facilitator, Olivia was privileged to work with several individuals and help support these individuals in achieving their unique goals. One particular individual supported was, after six months of interviewing and searching, able to gain employment for the first time as well as participate in a local art show- sharing his individual pieces at a local store. After working with Community Employment Links, Olivia created a large document of local resources and volunteer locations for her organization before departing to San Diego, California where she began working as a Direct Support Professional with LifeWorks Supported Living Agency. Through LifeWorks, Olivia explored Person Centered Planning within her team environments and was able to support talented individuals to utilize their gifts and engage with their communities. During this time, Olivia was inspired to return to school and began attending classes virtually while continuing to provide support. In 2020, Olivia was given the opportunity to join Networx as a Coordinator and continue to support individuals in a supervisory role. Olivia graduated with her Master of Science in Business Psychology in 2020 and continues to strive towards increasing her education and experience with individuals with developmental disabilities. She hopes to one day gain her doctoral degree in Psychology and continue to advocate for individuals with developmental disabilities.
